Western Lake Superior habitat for Humanity (WLS Habitat) is a non-profit organization serving St. Louis,
Lake and Carlton Counties in Minnesota. We build new homes, and adapt existing homes, building hope
and community.
WLS builds homes in partnership with community partners and partner families by offering safe,
affordable housing to families that might not otherwise be able to afford it. We help families acquire
zero interest financing and acquire loans. We work with the community and with volunteers to achieve
this goal. Applications are accepted from individuals at any time at infor@wlshabitatl.org . Families put
in “sweat equity” as they build alongside community partners and collaborators. This summer our goal is
to provide a home to one family In Floodwood.
Additionally, we have a program titled, “Aging in Place”. In this program, we implement adaptations in
homes to help individuals stay in their homes. Examples of repairs are; to construct a ramp, repair stairs
or update bathrooms to make them accessible. WLS Habitat helps people stay longer in their homes,
where they live longer with a higher quality of life. We make safety and accessibility adaptations for
homeowners.
WLS habitat depends on donations and volunteers to do this work. Please help us make safe affordable
homes a reality with your donation of cash, volunteer hours or construction materials.
Thank you!
WLS Habitat is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.
